Universal Energy: Art by Hooshang Khorasani
Picked From The Garden, acrylic on canvas
Hooshang Khorasani has a background in fine art and graphic design, beginning from a young age. The artist works in layers, drawing from what he describes as a universal energy -- imbuing each of his paintings with a sense of movement and life.

I adore Hooshang’s abstract originals and equine paintings equally – in the former, the artist’s use of color comes to the forefront, and the entire surface of the canvas is covered in energetic, deeply saturated hues of red and blue. The artist relies on a geometric abstract sensibility in these compositions, though occasional interventions of curved, loose brush marks serve to create a dynamic appearance.

In his equine paintings, this sense of movement and dynamism is even more heightened. Though many of these horse figures utilize a more subdued color scheme, in looking at these works I get the sense that the figure might simply leap off the canvas at any given time.
