The Art Portfolio of Maria Z. Madacky
Maria Z. Madacky is an artist who works in a variety of media including painting, printmaking, and multimedia installation. Maria’s works are sometimes self-contained explorations of material tactility, and other times more collaborative endeavors.
In our previous features of Maria’s works, we looked at the way the artist utilizes quietly tactile materials and creates works with a delicate, ethereal edge. Many of the artist’s works are pale in colour, light and finely textured. This isn’t to say that Maria hasn’t explored other avenues, though -- in collaborative works with M.E.D.I.U.M., for example, the artist takes a more playful, dramatic approach to her artwork.
In one collaboration with M.E.D.I.U.M., entitled The Trash Talk, Maria and her contemporaries addressed issues of waste and refuse by creating a number of exquisite corpse drawings. I’m curious to see what Maria has been working on in recent years, independently and with the collective.
