The Art Portfolio of Addison Paige
The Elegance of Nature and Chaos, acrylic and charcoal on canvas
Addison Paige is a traditional artist working a combination of traditional painting and drawing materials. The artist’s works are abstract, and utilize the unique line-making qualities of charcoal and acrylic paint to draw the viewer’s eye across the canvas.
When The Wind Takes Things Away From Us, acrylic, ink, and charcoal on canvas
As we saw in our previous feature, Addison’s use of acrylic paint and charcoal does a great job of showcasing the possibilities of the medium. The artist uses acrylic paint almost as a drawing tool, creating elongated, shaggy brush strokes that mimic the texture of chalk or pastel. These soft, textured backgrounds are overlaid with lines and shapes in heavy, solid blacks and colours that take on the appearance of mysterious glyphs of symbols.
Throughout her portfolio Addison uses specific, poetic titling to help guide the viewer’s interpretation of each apparently abstracted work. I look forward to seeing more of what Addison has been working on in recent years!
