Sol Lewitt is our artist for this week’s Studio Sunday! Lewitt (1928-2007) was one of the first artists to make work that focused as much on the idea, concept, and process as the finished piece. Lewitt worked for a number of years as a graphic designer for I.M. Pei’s architectural firm before becoming a full-time artist. The architectural education is obvious in much of his calculated, geometric art pieces.
