Today we look at the portfolio of artist Martin Ruel. He creates wildly imaginative imagery in his illustrations. His playful style remains bright with a twist of zaniness. I like the image above that shows a place where apple cider is made. I am curious about what the inside of this building would be like? Hopefully there would be alot of cider inside!


"Je m’inspire du vivant, du mouvement, des éléments. 
De ce qui m’entoure, de près ou de loin.

Je me considère avant tout comme un sculpteur. 
Je sculpte l’image comme d’autres le bois. 
Ma matière première est le gribouillis. 
Je le creuse, le façonne. 
Je fais danser le crayon et le laisse me charmer de sa trainée. J’orchestre le chaos qui se couche sur le canevas 
afin d’y instaurer un équilibre."

Rebecca Chaperon is our Artist-in-Residence

With a compulsion to create unique visual stories, her paintings often follow the thread of a heroine's misadventures through a surreal landscape.

She's had the pleasure of teaching at Langara College and given community workshops on painting techniques with an emphasis on watercolour, oil and acrylic. She is a board member at the Grunt gallery.
