Tiny, Gorgeous Drawing of the Mona Lisa Inside a Matchbook

drawing of Mona Lisa inside a matchbook
There is something incredibly beautiful about this gorgeous reproduction of the Mona Lisa, lovingly recreated on the inside of a tiny matchbook by artist Jason D’Aquino. What gets me most in this image is the beautifully rendered hands and the hazy landscape that retreats into the distance. I love to see artists create work on ephemeral materials. I can't help but feel precious about this piece due to it's tiny scale and normally dicarded substrate. I even love the staple that holds the match book together and the banal printed "Thank-you".
