Vibrant Nature Paintings: Marty Husted
Marty Husted is a painter and mixed-media artist located in Columbus, Ohio. Her oil paintings are beautiful in their simplicity. The loose, broad brushstrokes lend the works a sense of ease and relaxation that fits perfectly into the pastoral scenes of small towns and wilderness that Marty favours. I find the combination of soft lighting and deep, colour in these vibrant nature paintngs at once reassuring and joyous. Marty’s paintings feature scenes of nature that are familiar to many people, imbued with a sense of optimism that is contagious.

Marty received her BFA in illustration from the Columbus College of Art and Design, and the illustrative nature of her art shows through in her mixed media works. With their fluid nature scenes overlaid with distinct shapes and colorful patterns, I can’t help but see these pieces as tantalizing dreamscapes.
